Recognizing students' acts of kindness with Mitzvah Memos is a subtle way to acknowledge a righteous act. When we "catch them being good," they are more likely to repeat the behavior, creating a respectful, encouraging, and supportive classroom environment.
How to Use the Mitzvah Memos
1. Fill out the prompts on the Mitzvah Memo.
2. Give the right-side part to the student to bring home. Place the left-side in a jar with other "Mitzvah Memos" ticket stubs.
3. A teacher or student draws a "Mitzvah Memo" ticket stub from the jar.

Optional: A relevant list of Middot is provided if you choose to reference them. For instance, if a student goes the extra mile to clean up the playground, you can mention "שּׁוֹמְרֵי אֲדָמָה." Likewise, if one student stands up for another, you could refer to "לֹא תַעֲמֹד עַל-דַּם רֵעֶךָ." These Middot provide meaningful connections to the values and teachings while recognizing virtuous acts.
